GavalochoriGavalochori - Property List

In the centre of the scenic Apokoronou Penisula, 3.5 km inland from Almirida and at the end of a green and wooded valley leading down to the sea, the beguiling little village of Gavalohori has enjoyed something of a renaissance over the past 10 years. This is in part thanks to a woman’s co-operative where they make and sell local handicrafts such as lace and silk products. Many of the houses have been renovated in traditional fashion and the village has a pleasant air of both rural charm and prosperity. Dotted around the small square in the centre of the village are 3 local cafenions where the village males sip coffee and talk politics whilst desultorily twirling worry beads. After just a few days in the village you’ll find it’s easy to imagine owning your own little house here and blending into the local lifestyle, whilst your good wife tries her hand at lace-making! The village also has a bakery, 3 small mini-markets and a couple of tavernas so of an evening, there’s always the option to wine and dine locally and stroll home under the stars. For history buffs, there’s a small museum of 19th century household artefacts and on the outskirts of the village are the remains of an ancient settlement with 30 Byzantine wells!

Accommodation Guestbook

Gavalochori
Just to say how much we enjoyed our holiday at Metapothia last week . The villa was gorgeous and Gavalochori was a lovely little village. Thanks too for being able to stay in the accommodation a little later in the morning - it meant that yesterday wasn\'t just a day travelling. We were able to enjoy the morning and shower before heading off. It\'s that little touch that really makes a holiday great. Thanks again and we hope to book something a little later in the year.
