ArmeniArmeni - Property List

Armeni
Something off a foodie’s paradise, the village of Armeni is notable for its large shady plain trees lining the main street where you will find a choice of simple cafenions and three excellent tavernas. There is also a small mini -market and amazingly, a well stocked delicatessen with wonderful local cheeses, yoghurt and charcuterie as well as a large choice of frozen fish! Of a morning, fresh bread is delivered to the cafenion on the small ‘triangular central square’ you’ll see what we mean!

Nearby Kalives (approx 5min drive)

18 km east of Chania and strung along the edge of Souda Bay, Kalives is still very much a Greek village that has taken tourism in its stride and the bustling main street reflects the status quo with local shops, mini markets, tavernas and cafes happily doing business with all and sundry.

There’s a pretty little river which huge trout are rumoured to inhabit and where small plump ducks encourage children to feed them. Sheltered by the headland just to the east of the village is an excellent sandy beach with convenient cantinas selling cool drinks for sunbathers, whilst pedaloes and water skiing are readily available for the more energetic. Just back from the main thoroughfare in a warren of narrow streets tucked into the hillside, the locals go about their daily life in time honoured fashion and if you venture into the nearby countryside, you will discover numerous tiny villages in idyllic rural settings.

With almost a dozen tavernas, plus a number of small hotels and a choice of cosmopolitan little bars or ethnic cafenions, Kalives has much to recommend it to the visitor and yet happily manages to retain that quintessential Greekness.

Accommodation Guestbook

Armeni
We had a really lovely time - we all described the location as paradise and that it was the best holiday we have ever had. The information in the map section of the villa book was fantastic - we really appreciated all the detail especially the guide to parking in Chania. Our rep was very helpful in solving problems and answering queries - she helped us fix the satellite tv which was a good distraction for the children on particularly hot afternoons on our second week and advised us on the best place to get one of the children\'s ear infections seen to as well. A brilliant experience for all the family and I wish we were still there!
